Volleyball Season 2024
With the restructuring of schools (K-7), the Elementary Sports Council has eliminated the Tier 2 Level of play within sports. In addition, schools are being strongly encouraged to have Grade 4 students participate in sports within a Drop-in/Intramural format instead of a Tier 3 Level of play. Drop-in/Intramurals play allows for more game time for students without the added pressures on schools of hosting games. At Rayleigh, we are planning to hold two lunch hours per week for Grade 4 students to receive skill development practice from Grade 7 leaders and staff and then play games of volleyball.
Grade 5/6/7 students will have the opportunity to play on teams that fit them best. The Elementary Sports Council is offering Competitive and Recreation leagues that teams can be placed in and will play against teams from around the School District.
Below are the 2024 Volleyball Schedules. The first games of the season are scheduled for October 22nd, 2024.

Due to the large number of Rec Boys Players wanting to play this season, the team is using a split squad approach to game play. Our goal in Elementary Sports is to develop as many athletes as possible and this approach will help to balance this with a good opportunity to play in games. We will have a Purple Squad and a Grey Squad. Each squad will play in 3 games of the season and attend all practices. On Fridays, our coaches are running the scoreboard and will give the squads a chance to play each other to allow for additional game play.
The Rec Boys Start of Season letter provides more information and the names of the players on each squad (second page).

Parloff Season 2025
Parloff is a short sprint team relay activity that is an 8 person relay. Each runner sprints about 50 m before handing off a baton to the next runner. In the end, each runner makes it one complete lap around a 400 m track. There are a limited number of Parloffs that are hosted within the district and participation in Parloffs is based on a first come, first serve registration process. This year, Rayleigh was fortunate to get into both of the Parloffs that are happening. This is thanks to the quick work of Ms. Hassall and Mrs. Tweed who are also coaching the Parloff teams.
